I was barely conscious, but I could feel an uncomfortable fullness in my lower body between my thighs. I wriggled, moaning in discomfort, before I became aware of someone moving above me.

Panic immediately gripped me and I wanted to scream, my senses screeching from the violation. Someone was raping me! It was all my damn fault I had landed in a coma, made myself vulnerable enough for someone to take advantage of me. Sweat slicked in icy fear along my skin as my thoughts spiralled while all the time there was someone thrusting in me.

In and out. In and out. In and out.

Showing absolutely no remorse, just taking and taking for their own selfish pleasure.

I focused on pulling myself out of the dregs of sleep, assess what was happening, when I felt lips connect with the erogenous area of my neck. I moaned again, but this time from pleasure. From understanding and awareness when the familiar scent—presence—of my stepbrother flooded my senses, and I immediately relaxed before hysteria soon gripped me.

I wanted to laugh, cackle even, from fucking karma. What comes around clearly goes around. It had all been a lie when I said I wasn’t interested in him anymore, but it had become painfully obvious how toxic we were together. How we would never work with each other. I was doing him a favour!

Nice but boring Darcie was obviously preferable to starting an affair with his stepsister, potentially ruining our family, certainly being judged by society, so it was hugely convenient to pretend the coma had triggered a personality change.

Now that I knew he was fucking me, I couldn’t deny the pleasure lighting up my body, and I dug my nails into his back, encouraging him on. He muttered something to me and I gasped, about to reply before the door slammed open, the room flooding with lighting.

Not-a-fucking-gain! I cursed, furious because I was just about to get into it. It had been too long since Kieran and I had been together. It was a shame the one boy I shouldn’t have, knew exactly how to make me come and come over and over again until I was a puddle of needy want beneath him.

“What the fuck are you doing?” Xav yelled. “Kieran Ainsworth! Get the hell off her! And pack your bags. I’ve had enough of this—why the fuck did I even go along with it?” The violent sound of wood being hit reverberated through the room, making me jump, gripping Kieran closer to me, which only reminded me how deep he was buried. “By God, Kier, what have you done?”

The naked fear in his voice made me cringe; Kieran had done nothing wrong! It was just who we were. The nice nurse who had been helping me, Salomé, must have entered the room because I heard soft footsteps, followed by Xav muttering something indiscernible to her.

He must have been trying to keep her from entering the room because I soon heard a shriek followed by a torrent of enraged French.
